Frequently Asked Questions

The key difference is ownership and personalisation. In a mutual fund, your money is pooled with thousands of other investors and you own units — not individual stocks. In PMS, your money is managed separately and stocks are held directly in your own demat account in your name. Your PMS portfolio is also customised to your specific goals and tax situation, which mutual funds cannot offer. PMS requires a minimum of ₹50 Lakhs; mutual funds can be started with ₹500.

SIF (Specialized Investment Fund) is a new SEBI-regulated product introduced in 2025 that sits between mutual funds and AIFs. Like mutual funds, it operates under SEBI's regulatory framework with mandatory NAV disclosures. Unlike standard mutual funds, SIF allows fund managers to take short positions, use derivatives more flexibly, invest in below-investment-grade debt, and run concentrated sector bets. Unlike AIFs (which require ₹1 Crore minimum), SIF is accessible from ₹10 Lakhs for accredited investors.

For regular monthly or quarterly income, Fixed Income products are best suited — specifically corporate bonds, NCDs, NBFC fixed deposits, and government securities with semi-annual coupons. These pay fixed interest on predictable schedules. Debt mutual funds can also generate income via systematic withdrawal plans (SWPs). PMS and equity products are not designed for regular income generation — they are focused on long-term capital appreciation.

Absolutely — and for most HNIs, a multi-product approach is recommended. A well-constructed portfolio might have a core equity allocation via PMS or mutual funds, a fixed income layer for stability and income, and a satellite allocation to Pre-IPO stocks or SIF for higher-return potential. Amyra Securities advises across all products and can help you build an integrated, multi-product wealth strategy tailored to your overall financial situation.

SEBI defines an accredited investor as an individual with a net worth of at least ₹7.5 Crore (including the value of their principal residence), or an annual income exceeding ₹1 Crore, or a combination as specified in SEBI regulations. Accreditation is required to access SIF and some categories of AIF. We help you check eligibility and complete the accreditation process as part of our onboarding — it's free and simple.
